Creating such an obviously "villain because he is bad" character is lazy writing at best, and lack of talent at worst. Also making MC watch villain-kun slap his waifu repeatedly without him doing anything, just to suddenly make him remember " Oh! Yup I have that power!" was simply pathetic. This chapter alone dropped my rating for this manga by about 5 points.

I've read somewhere between MD or MangaSushi comment section that this thief arc on LN/WN are actually as simple as slapping that illusionist guy with a fish and then move on to another arc. it seems it was the mangaka who unnecessary dragged the story into shit like this.

In the end, being stupid will be the MC's biggest weakness and the author's lack of imagination will be the limitation of this manga.

@sedition Translation didn't help explain it, but the whole point was that he had to tough it out because he didn't have enough LP to change the gravity skill. However the skill would soon stop because it eats MP like crazy. Tom couldn't hold out for long.
But during the whole thing, he got a new hint of what to use the LP for instead.
