at this point he has the headache resistance skill, so, while he probably still feels some pain, he has no actual down time from using great sage skill even without his girls to help, and he could have asked while he's like 5 minutes out from the village or after he "left" and was hiding but before he spent the LP and effort to break in
I remember his childhood friend getting mad when she found out he could use great sage without being kissed or debilitated, girl wanted him to keep needing her...
