Does seem like it doesn't it? Even though black hair, while not the most dominant compared to brown, is still pretty common in Europe.

Even though depending on the area, it's around double the rate of natural red hair. (My grandpa had black hair too thinking on it)

My memory says the genes for blond hair spread from the Northern European and Scandinavian countries.

My ancestry is a mix of Irish and English, I have both black and blond hair in my family.

Yeah mixed British & Irish here too, so far managed to have every hair colour arrive in my family haha, whether through nuclear family cousins.

Iirc Nordic have a lot of blondes, I think UK has predominantly brunette with blonde close behind, Italy does have a ton of black hair as you said, and then it's a huge mix across the continent.

In hindsight I guess its more surprising just how dominant black or near black hair is in East Asia huh.
