Yes, I know this fiction, but for the benefit of anyone reading this and curious about the real world: Confronting the person shouldn't be your top priority anyway. If you live in the kind of developed nation that has concepts like "mandated reporters of child abuse," you also have access to one or more convenient ways to do that, and you don't have to be a doctor or teacher or whatever to take advantage of them.I mean.. even if she knew, as long as its not impacting her work, or damaging the company, she has essentially no reason to interfere 😐
Her walking up to her and ask "You into your son?", or make it a big deal would probably cause more harm, than it would do good
Everyone has their own calculus of when a suspicion rises to the level of reportability, but I hope whoever's reading this remembers that most people just WON'T, so please don't factor an assumption that someone else will into your decision, okay? Where I am, it's not a witch hunt, and the fact that a lot of cases are determined to be unfounded is just an accepted part of the system. It operates on a "better safe than sorry" kind of model.
Playing wingman so your coworker can hook up with her underage son is obviously the wrong answer irl, but the less-obvious right answer would be her calling 189, where you can anonymously report such things in Japan. Now you know!
