thx for the correct orthography. i just looked at the pronunciation and was like "what do i do with this now huh" and just guessed it was a mythology reference. Undine can sometimes be written Ondine (according to wikipedia) which probably led me to this mistake. i'll correct it asap.

Yeah, I read that page and.....they called it an alternative spelling which is a dubious claim at best (don't blindly trust wikipedia!). The earliest count of this is less than 100 years old and it was based off of a novel originally called Undine. The second use was a ballot which got remade and then renamed Undine instead and the final (based off that wiki at least) is a movie. So yeah in my personal opinion, that's not nearly enough usage to consider it an alternative spelling.

Since we are talking about spirits as you can see with Gnome and Salamander being mentioned, yeah I'll go with the original name "Undine" just for consistency.

I don't know the RAW, but if I may take a guess, the original line would a variant of something like:
"Onii-san wa dare?",

hence it would make sense to be translated as:
"Who are you, (pronoun of your choice for adressing older male e.g. big brother nii-chan etc.)?"
