pretty much this, every argument the hero has is turned against him, even his dream of banging all the women in his party and mc’s companion is revealed if I remember well. The trial takes some time tho, 6 or 7 chapters I think

I can tell from the pacing that this "charge of treason" is going to get pointed straight back at Msr Hero, so I'm not overly concerned other than how many flashback chapters of "childhood nice Ares" we have to fucking wade through before the author takes the brave and socially disruptive stance that rape and murder are somehow "bad things," and shouldn't be pardoned simply because "Friendship" ahem... decides to put Ares out of our misery.

No, wait. Actually, that scans just fine. I almost forgot: Ares is a textbook case of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, which is, IMHO, the absolutely most dangerous form of psychopathy.

Why?

A sociopath or a psychopath might let you off the hook for a slight. Even without having any moral compunctions, they may deem it not worth the time or effort.

But a narcissist? They'll burn the whole fucking world down in order to get back at you. No questions asked, save for how to get the most suffering out of you for whatever wrong you did to them.
