Slad says Ares is an idiot but is really cunning at saving his skin but his example is just that Ares knows they won't punish the hero. That's not really cunning on any conceivable level.

It's not clear to me that Ares as the hero actually has the potential to kill the Demon Lord. His growth rate is not clear and his aptitude for fighting does not appear to be high. Unless fighting is boiled down to pure big number beat little number, then you kinda have to be smart on some level to react to, strategize, and outmaneuver opponents.
Dude casually solved calculus but say shit like "I'm sowwy I idiot who dwool at dry paint" but then Ares answered a yes or no question correctly after 735 attempts and Slad go "wowe Awed smart"

Tbh, I like this story, it's decent but the thing is. I kinda hate the trope were the protagonist who is supposed to be full of virtue and heroism is flipped and turn into a sinnable protagonist that faces off the mc, it's like kinda tiring knowing how the original protagonist may be decent before our mc get Isekai or reincarnates. I have a manga and manwha that differs in this trope which is "Somehow, the Villainess Who Regressed in Time Lost Her Magic Power, So She Turned Into a Secluded Maiden" ( the original protagonist is a reincarnated person but instead of being a trash bs girl who has delusional thinking, she is just a ordinary girl with desperation of escaping the game to go back to her own original world ) and "The greatest estate developer" which we already know how the original protagonist have a GREAT relationship with our mc.

Now I don't really hate it but it kept getting repetitive due to how this plot always making the original protagonist a trash piece of shit while our mc that just got reincarnated is already ten time better than he is ( plus 100 crazy op abilities ). I kinda want to see if there are such manwhas, manga or even manhua that doesn't follow this sort of plot and differs on it
( I found ones that have this type of trope but differentiate from it but there are uncommon to this type of trope )

Slad, you freaking idiot.

Your auto-buff auto-debuff skill is literally capable of destroying entire kingdoms by your mere presence. Of course the King is not going to just dismiss you by default just because the Hero is here. Even if the Hero is "Necessary" to defeat the Demon Lord, your presence is just as frightening as a Demon Lord, and just by passively existing.

If you ended up considering the King your enemy, as well as his entire Kingdom, what do you think would happen? The only reason it doesn't happen is because you're too laid back and naive of a protagonist to just pull the trigger mentally yourself. From his perspective, while the Hero may be a specialist assassin to take down a singular target. You are a walking potential nuclear bomb, not in the sense of explosive power, but in the sense of being able to suddenly propagate highly destructive and impossible to block radiation if unleashed.

So of course the King is going to give YOU the royal treatment, and not the Hero. The Hero isn't even that special, he's just a specialized weapon. He has one role, you on the other hand, you clearly are far more of an all encompassing benefit. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if all the leeway you were given wasn't because He was the Hero, but because You exist.

Grow a brain Slad... And some balls. At least we know you have a huge dick, but have some balls, without that we'll also never get an Erotica tag on this thing.
I’m sorry, but i just HAVE to say, that was the best fucking comment ive ever read in my life. Holy hell you encapsulated what literally everyone thinks and MORE so well it deserves a prize and two chicken nuggets

Well his skill isn't dependent on what he thinks, but rather what others think of him.

So, if someone even thinks of opposing MC or has a negative effect on him, they would immediately get debuffed when they get near him (even if MC doesn't think of opposing them but rather wants to be friendly with them).

But to get Buffed, they would need to be acknowledged by MC as friend.

So basically while MC has somewhat control over his Buffs, his Debuffs are not in his control at all, probably as a way to balance out his powers.

Well if the King is as intelligent & exceptional strategist as MC claims him to be, then the King already knows ways to counter MC.

Keep in my, MC's skill isn't spread out in a wide range, it's range is actually small, and i don't think it works on inanimate objects.

So, it's entirely possible to quietly throw MC away in a prison and let him die there.

MC can't break out of the prison because he isn't that strong, and since the effective range of his skill is small and the Debuff only work when the person view MC as a threat (or negativity affecting him with a status), then even the guards theoretically wouldn't be affected if they just stay neutral towards him like a basic prisoner.

The only reason the King would prefer to keep MC around is to,
  • have someone power-up the group incharge of taking down the Demon Lord, or
  • stop him from joining someone in opposition to the Kingdom
