Ok so if Appraisal is a rare skill it means he should be able to hide it by lying which skill he has, just copy someone else's skill and show that you have that. I wouldnt use the healing one tho, it would make harder for him to do stuff on his own as adventurer. Hang around some restaurant for a bit, read everyone's status and learn something cool like magic and go with that.
Usually to become an adventurer the guild has an appraisal tool but more often than not the information about the individual isnt made public, so you dont need to worry about them leaking that info (unless ofc the guild itself has scumbags in high seats). Its usually the adventurer's themselves that tell others the skill they have to make groups more easily, so he can lie to them no problem (again just copy a cool offensive skill and go with that).
@Elhao he learned the skills by reading their info, thats all. Its a type of copy but insted of observation (the common trope of 'seeing the target using it') its by 'getting knowledge' of the target with the Appraisal.
