Potato potato. Shit's the same either way, they're actively hostile to those outside of their racial in-group and form secret little clubs they only allow their race into. Their view on race is that if one of your ancestors belongs to a racial group, then you're a part of that group. Like the old woman's words were straight out of the Klan.

That being said the MC is also racist in the exact same way so I find it hard to pity him.
