That was never a critical issue, per se. While he was always worried about not possibly knowing what's going to happen next, that's not his primary worry, by far. His greatest fear is the detail Harold Stokes dies in the original story! So, he has been changing the story from the beginning with the intention of changing his own fate. Saving Clara is also a part of it because he doesn't want to be the hero party's mortal enemy. Sure, he also didn't want to partake in any evil acts, but that serves his goal as well. Unfortunate he still needed to keep acting like a scumbag because he never was in total control of his own speech and to push Erica away, to make sure she joins Liner's side. Like you said, he actually made Erica fall in love with himself, but as far as he believes, Erica hates him. He's not really overly perceptive outside of the game knowledge.

Had to check when we actually see Giffelt's design (end of chapter 42), but with the hat + overalls it seems pretty likely, yeah.

I guess he is more focused now on determining what Justus' actual motivations are, aside from what the game presented before - especially since it seems there are deeper reasons involved compared to what he initially knows, after all it was just a game to him at the beginning. But I do hope he would focus more on keeping himself and the characters alive, than just trying to make things go as close to the original game setting. He should know by now that almost nothing is as it should be anyway.

yeah, the sudden 5 years time skip is harsh even when I read WN. I was like "??? what ???"

this arc is kinda okay tho since we're still focus on MC and his interaction with "hero party member" will lead to next arc and my boi, harold will keep getting more brownie point for hero party member even with harold's speech somehow lol.

Also, just my bias but I hope manga will fix erica or give her more role than "nadeshiko(Ideal wife)" who passive af in WN.
I meant, she's nice and all but last arc in WN before I drop make me scatch my head so hard. I want her to be agressive for once or else their romance won't progress at all lol.
