That's just how it went it the novel, the author really likes to make all the big battles after this point like this so as long as thsy continue to adapt the light novel great ready for more "final showdown" epic battles like this at the end of every arc(They all happen differently though so don't expect for them to get repetitive😂)
i agree. but i actually don't know how it was in code geass, the mech battle is heavily dependant on the artist skill though. the mecha's detail, zooming in and out in panel, and panelling size that can reduce the paper max constraint will help a lot. and the time production deadline limit. this is why i like arpeggio's manga that will taking time to convey the fighting scene, which is actually rare to find

The chest parts of the enemy mechs definitely looks very turn-A, but those heads/faces and backpacks(legs), if it wasn't obvious they're a shoutout to a certain spider going NAIWA.
