The Clark Kent Effect is one of the devices used as an axiomatic basis in this manga. It's not a matter of if it's possible or not to recognize him: Suspension of disbelief is a must to enjoy this series. People hasn't any problems to do it all the time in other manga to enjoy'em, so I think it shouldn't be a problem for you to do it too with this.

I'm still not remotely sold on him being unable to recognize her, especially after all this time. Luckily the rest of the story is cute enough that my inability to suspend my disbelief isn't too bothersome. It's cute, drawing is pretty good. And actual writing is better than majority.

This is one of very few manga's I read in recent years with very consistent story, no drama just for a sake of making drama. I'd say it's above average.
