I really hope this series gets cancelled.
It's impressive how the author has managed to fuck up such an easy story as badly as he has; Chris and Kanji don't even feel like a married couple anymore. They keep each other at arm's length while she spends more time talking to, thinking about, and being around her brother who everyone inexplicably loves despite him being a belligerent dickhead who resorts to force as a first measure because he feels like he's above talking to the rabble that is the rest of the cast.

For how long the arrival of her brother and the mage girl was teased and built up, their introduction was fumbled so hard, it really killed all momentum. The brother is a weird siscon and massive asshole who beat the main character into the hospital because of his incestuous lust, yet is beloved and forgiven for really no reason, mage girl is barely in the story at all (and not just because she's gone to America), hell, the male lead is barely in the story anymore. Meanwhile, we waste several chapters on the adventures of dickwad brother, weird tomato farmer man, and just how gosh darn much Chris wants to go back home, leaving her husband and father of her soon-to-be-born child behind without apparently much of a second thought.

The child's birth better shake things up in a major way. Several characters need some serious redeeming.
The brother really needed consequences for his actions, literally if that happened there probably wouldn't be that many people complaining as they did now. The fl and his wife really should've beat his ass or chastised him at the very least but no, its so bizarre lol.

Crazy how this series would still be considered good if it weren't for the fact that the brother for some reason never got consequences for his actions. Someone made a great point how this series focused on the realism that was emphasized in the chapter previous but consequences are immediately thrown out the window and the ML for some reason is treated like he doesn't matter at all-- it's essentially ludo narrative dissonance, genuinely baffling.

Wow, I just got caught up with the series. I had dropped it after the two leads got married, and forgot about the manga. Then I saw it getting mass updates here. And now I regret it. Bar has got to be the biggest poison pill I've ever experienced in a story. I've NEVER gotten mad at a manga in my life, after reading manga for decades. Congrats author-san, you did the impossible.

Kanji, let Chris go. You deserve much better.

Maybe after tilling the soil Bar's magic marked the fields as his territory.

OK.. so mass-update and some "progression" ....
Honestly the biggest thing happening is the "washing incident" , which might explain "big Bro's" attitude previously, since he assumed he was only there to pick up his sister.
With the scroll gone... He obviously may have to adjust to actually staying here as well, and might get some form of "redemption".
The weird way he's being made the center of the "Kami/Spirit" thing gives little hope though.

The completely insane brocon/siscon dynamic that's entirely plot-driven, and resembles not even shred of Real Life™ attitudes makes things... hard to believe.. Not to mention insanely annoying as it makes FMC totally incredible in what is supposed to be a "normal" human setting.

Following this just to see what the author could possibly aim at, but so far this is an exercise in "How Not To Do A Story".
It's disjointed as hell, with the characters simply switching modes/reactions as Plot demands at the time. Stiched together, no consistency at all.

I'm not arguing against that on principle. But the problem is that this manga specifically also insists on having these fairly serious and almost too grounded elements to it (remember when Chris was being held in a government facility for a while?), that demand resolution. Like, normally a siscon being aggressive would be a one-off joke, but he beat the protagonist so hard that he was hospitalized. And it actually affected his business. He caused his brother-in-law to move out of his own house and sleep in the cuck shed, and it was never actually resolved. The current plot is moving in a direction where the protagonist's pregnant wife who professed to loving him may just leave the fucking planet, never to return, taking his child along. And nobody is talking about it. The plot isn't whimsical or free of real consequences enough to meander on dumbass side plots like tomato man not knowing the names of women for several chapters. It fucks up the pacing when these pressing issues are swept aside for nonsense.
The Brother/Kanji Resolution was "Tomato Man" pointing out MC's good points and then making Bart humble and accept that had it not been for Kanji his sister might have died on earth unsure about what happened.

The Government Facility resolution was the Magic farming project you know the field of soybeans and onions they are using magic on to see how it affect the way they are growing and what is different vs traditional growing methods

The moving out was him trying to gain perspective away from Kanji and Chris which is why now Chris hates Uryuu because she took it as he stole her brother from her

Chris not outwardly expressing whether she has reservations on whether she wants to go back or not isn't an admission that she doesn't have them I would point out that no one has mentioned it but the continuous use of Mass Teleportation has caused weather fuck ups that are affecting the planet let alone how the earth it self is responding to magic being introduced

Uryuu is just being used as Comic Relief that is why he is being shown off for one off this is why he is here to tell everyone about single women/women of interest because he wants to get married its a cultural joke we don't like or get it but its funny to Japanese people who are the audience its targeted at.
The part that's really, REALLY fucked up, however? Neither Chris nor Louise bothered to use their healing magic to help heal Kanji after he was beaten so badly he had to go to the hospital. So, for like weeks/months he was just left to suffer and heal through that.

I mean, she can go and cast "heal" on a field for onions or whatever the fuck, but not her own husband? I think the manga tried to "justify" that with a throw-away line that it's "bad for the baby," but Louise isn't fucking pregnant. That's no excuse.

It annoys me so god damn much that they dragged out and teased the brother and Louise finally coming here and the first thing they do is beat the shit out of Kanji the main male character and then just try and pressure Chris to drop everything and come back with them like it's a given. Fuck those two. If it was going to be that dogshit I'd rather they didn't leave their world.
Louise was losing her magic at that point wasn't she? or at least starting to notice her magic was off not to mention I don't remember if she was deliberately stated as having healing magic she could do protection attack and the like was referred to as a great sage but that doesn't mean she knows how to heal did she also at that point they didn't really know Kanji so why bother healing him if it wasn't a serious injury also Kanji played off how badly hurt he was, wasn't he?

No, that was later when they were messing with the field. Kanji was beaten by the asshole brother almost right after they got here.
to be fair from his point of view it seemed like a random man took advantage of his emotionally vulnerable sister and well wouldn't say raped but made her have his child it wasn't till you know banished to the cuck shed that he properly listen and still didn't accept it but different morals/culture if I remember right also please don't go off of what we know from the story because remember till they showed up they had no idea what happened to Chris or what she was dealing with, also the fact that back home she was possibly accused of desertion wasn't she?
