There was supposed to be another arc involving hell and heaven after the school festival arc, it was in one of the authors notes i think. but I can't remember what exactly, it's been really long. What plot point is even left at this point?
Nah it was for both of the girls sakes. It was for Amane in that it wouldn't be fair to her if he was leading some other girl on, and it was for Ayano so she can move on faster since she knows she never had a chance. Telling her that he used to have feelings for her may lead her to think those feelings could resurfaceI don't know if he needed to go that far. He could have just said whatever I felt was a long time ago and that life is over etc.
"I have never loved you once" is just some extra shit.

Yeah the who back story was already mentioned like 3 times. Each time they reveal more details. Except this one had nothing new. We already knew that she was the one who caused the kids to go beat up the MC. And that she hated how he didn't fall for her charm or spell after she awoken her powers.I could've sworn there was a whole thing about how she was able to influence everyone to like her but since he didn't trust her it wasn't effective or wouldn't work on him. That ended up being a, seemingly big, contributing factor too. Are we retconning that or?
Nah, she admits she just wanted to get it of her chest. Things got complicated for a sec when she realized he did like her once so he shot her down hard to make a clear cut for both their sakes. Something she actually saw through but understood. I assume realizing she actually did have a chance once but simply "missed it" probably hurt like a bitch but she went where she thought she was alone, cried her eyes out and moved on. I say this could have ended much worse. Finally!
They obviously already going out together but she still go for him knowing how it'll end up.
Serve her right I guess.
