That reservation BS--I'm absolutely willing to believe there are places that do that in real life. But not in my city; restaurant competition's fierce here and if you deliberately make it a pain in the ass to do reservations, people will go somewhere else.

@lightingcloud That's Koharu, the woman from the workplace that gets drunk and rowdy at mixers, so she's had no luck finding a guy. And the guy is Chigasaki, her kouhai at work who's clearly interested in her. (He first showed up in chapter 41.) He took her to the family izakaya in chapter 46.

@miscacc like Purplelibraryguy said, it's most likely a real thing (unless the author just came up with a twisted version of their own failed reservation) but given how many restaurants are in cities these days, anything that drives away customers is to be thrown out asap.

Okay wait, so why even have the option to make reservations online if they’ll only be “tentative”. If you still have to read instructions from a follow up email to set a real reservation (which I’m assuming are instructions to call and confirm it), then why not take out the confusing extra step and just slap the phone number on the website with a “please call to make a reservation” or whatever instructions were in the email. That entire process just sounds overly complex and pointlessly confusing. No restaurant could have that in place for more than a year without turning away a ton of customers leading to missed profits and probably bad reviews from angry patrons that came there thinking they had a reservation (because honestly the MCs are just nice, but I’m pretty sure most people would have stayed there and fought that with all the extra effort they put into getting read and time they wasted just because they didn’t see an email and a technicality; most people think that when they make a reservation online its done and they can relax).
