The trope (In my case, more like a significant reference almost to other stories) of teacher and student is odd to me. Not that I don't understand it, we've still got various tropes in American media relating to this but I just never found my teachers attractive.

I know lots of people who had a crush on a teacher in highschool & junior high.

One of the girls from my year ended up dating and marrying of the teachers from Highschool once she went to college.
To paraphrase her friend who told me about it: "It definitely wasn't his idea".

Couple of girls from college talked about trying to go to the bone zone with their favorite teacher (with varying degrees of success). And of course the level of students and professors boning in college was off the chain.

In college they are adults, so it's open season for everyone.
It's the high school I am concerned about...

I'm not debating you on that.
Even college age people and their professors is a little dicey due to the power difference, especially given I've known/known of professors who basically cycle through relationships with undergrads on a nearly set cadence.

But the poster I was responding to was questioning if the trope was reflective of real life. And I was expressing that in my experience its far from uncommon.

But plenty of relationships that would be absolutely unequivocal "no" in real life are OK in fiction because we can know for certain everyone's mind.
