So she's pivoting when met with hostility or changing the subject I suppose, yeah that's logic although I wanna point out she trys a touch a second time after told no, I think I'm overthinking it but I'd rather overthink it than be shocked at another Mai, I'm confident we're not going down that route though, for sure

And oh dear she's so off, here's a theory perhaps it's not the bum she falls for but the person that saves her? Like a savior fixation
Shes really trying to rush the friend thing, she's pushing it one could say but to cut her some slack I truly believe most introverts need an assertive extrovert in their life to force them out their comfort zone and do fun things not alone, cause socializing is fun when with someone you tolerate, and that would be her assigned role here
