You didn't understand what I said. It IS fiction, which is why it's pointless to be angry at the characters. If people want to be angry, it should be towards the author who wrote them. I'm not saying the author is or isn't allowed to write this though, just saying that people's reactions are misguided.

You're missing the point of fiction. It is meant to make us feel these fictitious feelings. Taking emotions meant for the characters and heaping them on the author is what's pointless. For example, would you really say it's useless to feel anger towards Griffith and instead point that anger at Kentaro Miura instead?

The only thing we should be directing towards the author is either gratitude for giving us a good time, or annoyance for wasting ours.

They might be "real" but they certainly don't hold the same weight as the emotions we feel regarding real people. That's what's so beautiful about fiction, it lets us explore feelings without consequence.

Like that would ever happen. The two of them will play their stupid little game, and Miya will be the hapless victim and suffer the most, like all sweet and pure characters in this kind of story.
...unless the author pulls a Boy's Abyss and gives her a backstory that makes her somehow worse than the others.
