You didn't understand what I said. It IS fiction, which is why it's pointless to be angry at the characters. If people want to be angry, it should be towards the author who wrote them. I'm not saying the author is or isn't allowed to write this though, just saying that people's reactions are misguided.
You're missing the point of fiction. It is meant to make us feel these fictitious feelings. Taking emotions meant for the characters and heaping them on the author is what's pointless. For example, would you really say it's useless to feel anger towards Griffith and instead point that anger at Kentaro Miura instead?
The only thing we should be directing towards the author is either gratitude for giving us a good time, or annoyance for wasting ours.
