Imagine having an edge lord phase when you are 45 or something
He's now basically at his 20 at most, or to be precise, not around his former mental age at all. Theoretically speaking, the body affects the mind and vice-versa, thus he is just a half of being Goro at the time, and the other half of being his father's growing-up son which leads to his obsession of being manipulative a.k.a edgelord rn.

If you squint through the edgelord panel and skip it, the scene flows much better. I'm just gonna mentally suppress it

Ah, I've been wanting to punch Aqua in the face ever since the chapter when he talked with Ichigo on the pier, realized their father is still at large, and restarted this path of no return with ever greater haste. The moment he pushed Kana, the moment he walked away from Akane, now this. This is exactly the effect that Akasaka wanted, no doubt.

After seeing the beginning of Oshi no Ko, my immediate thought was like "on the one hand I wanted to see Aqua getting his salvation before he completes full self-destruction, on the other hand I had a stronger desire to see if Akasaka can properly deliver a modern Hamlet and make Aqua a character that leaves his name in history forever. (And when that happens, at least I want Ruby to be saved and be happy…)" He's certainly been trying on this front. Now I just wish the part about Ruby comes true. (Also I truly hope (and think) Kana will be saved from the worst outcome of whatever fuckery that Aqua has in mind… Sigh.)

This come from the same author of Scums Wish, so I was expecting fucked up things coming, but even Scums Wish got a happy ending in their extended story, I expect the same with Oshi no Ko, after all Aqua isn't a bad guy, he just let his revenge get to him, but don't forget that he saved Akane, helped Kana when she needed him to act, plus he cares about his sister a lot as well.

Mengo just help with the drawing (and iinm, even the draft is still done by Aka). Maybe with the art direction, but not expecting her to involve herself much with the story direction unless Aka asks her first.

Evil Aqua be like: I want to have a healthy relationship with my friends and move on with my second life
Evil Aqua: I need to have a meaning in my life and it have to be dramatic. Healthy normal relationship like those nobodies makes me feel dead inside.

Goro, few years later: (rolling on the floor in pain from the cringe of remembering those years)

OnK is becoming ... mediocre.

I don't know, but if this drags on, Rental Girlfriend might be better.

Yeah... That's the conflict between his desire to live a normal life and his fate to carry out the revenge, which has been playing out throughout the whole story. For now, it seems the latter is having the upper hand though, which is exactly what I wanted to see. tbh I would be somewhat surprised and disappointed if he doesn't die in the end, especially if it's due to some deus ex machina shenanigans (unless there's a good reason for it). There are still some cards the plot can use though, one of which being Aqua and Ruby still don't know each other's previous identities, so we'll see.

Nah, my main focus on the story ever since seeing the beginning has been to see Aqua's full self-destruction and spiral toward insanity. It's finally here, albeit much delayed (and might still be reversed in the end), so at least I'm happy that this is happening.

What a fucking edgelord
She would have done it anyway
He thinks hes a fucking mastermind because his close friends are doing him a favor actual clown ahhaha
Well, I guess a point is that Kana never got the whole revenge thing (at least not yet), unlike Akane, not to mention the "role" she's supposed to play in it, which could well involve some danger or at least underhandedness. Thus it makes sense why Aqua wouldn't tell her outright. But I also do agree with some others that he may still has the intention to protect the others (or at least believes he does), and his laughter might be more hysterical than evil. We'll see.

Darkqua Arc going in full force, eh?
Not much of master manipulation so far…unless he meant the fact that she quit the idol group.

What would he gain by that? Is it just because he needs someone on the inside to manipulate and insert scenes and lines into the production?
Or maybe something more evil like stirring drama and perhaps making her the bait to get his dad’s attention.
Yeah exactly. If it's something as simple as playing a role or reading some lines I don't see any "manipulation" taking place. Having her as some sort of bait would make more sense but also be sad and somewhat abrupt considering what he said previously about Kana. We'll see.

"She's so easy to manipulate"
what for.? is there a purpose for this, or just to show to the reader.?
I feel one way to interpret the laughter scene might be more hysterical than truly "evil", i.e. more in the sense of a mental breakdown. Guess it will become clearer later when we look back at this part.

I have seen some comments which point out that even though that's the official division of work, parts of the story do seem to have Mengo's mark on them and it becomes hard to tell whose idea it is for certain plot elements. I also would imagine they discuss ideas on the story naturally over time (with the editor's involvement as well). Maybe that's a misunderstanding on how it all works though.

Scum's Wish author loves forbidden love so we expect Ruby and Aqua to seggs in the heat of their insanity.
