can't help the feeling ch.3 Miyako "change" to this Miyako, instead of "develop". Feels really like a retcon...
I do agree, but kinda don't mind. It's not unheard for side characters to change a lot from early appearances.
That said, this chapter is also only how she remembers and sees herself, so there's still some space for both being part of her.

Also, I just have to lol at people acting like she was given a printing press to produce money and not a timesink that is barely afloat and probably just making enough money for her and the kids.
Reminder that Ai died when the Twins were toddlers, Ichigo has been gone for over a decade, might even still have been living on company money for all we know, since we only ever see him fishing.
I still won't hate on him.

Ai's fucking dead, woman. He (subconsciously) considered her like the daughter he never had and believed her to be his only hope to achieve his dream. There's no way he could just let the killer get away with it. So, he gave you- No. He gifted you his own company and its resources so you could keep on going following your dream while distancing himself so none of you would get dragged into it.

Unpopular opinion: Miyako's achievements as a "mother" are overrated.
Bro, your opinion is not unpopular, it's just plain brainless.

I don't know if Akasaka was trying to mislead us about her background and personality, like how Kana was introduced. But I always liked thinking Miyako initially a selfish bimbo who didn't know what to think after the WTF moment with twin babies and their biggest star being murdered, and has since been going through life picking up the pieces from everyone's messes for over a decade. She became a more practical and selfless person as a result of all these experiences, and I loved her for that.

But the first few chapters were a little uneven, with some weird elements like the flash forwards that were later dropped and the anime ignored them, so maybe Akasaka's writing was rocky at the start and this was how we were supposed to see Miyako from the start.

It's not actually shown, but I like to think that he at least spent the last decade trying to find out who the killer was; though he was seemingly useless in that somehow. Makes me wonder, how a producer (Kaburagi) that temporarily worked with AI apparently knew her better than Ichigo, who spent around 8 years close to her in one way or another.
Enough so that Ichigo couldn't tell the seemingly obvious signs of her being interested in a guy, and deduce when and where it happened.
Remember when Ichigo warned her not to reach out to the father and she lied to his face? Ichigo and Miyako would have been the people she was able to keep the most from, because she knew them the best.
