@Superoniichan

Well, I do enjoy the doujinshis that have come from the movement (Maybe not specifically the KumikoxReina stuff, there's that third tsundere pairing out there and it's pretty nice!) I know way more toxic fandoms with their non-canon pairings.

I wasn't even mad at the whole actual romantic subplot thingy, we already knew that the childhood friend has a crush on Kumiko by the time all that happens and Kyoani it's Kyoani, they do not adapt shoujo-ai, they MAKE everything into shoujo-ai/shounen-ai so you could expect all that to be played as just "gals being gals" later on.

If anything I just like to show my upmost appreciation for going OUT OF THEIR FUCKING WAY to make that scene and some others in particular... I mean, it seems the original novels already did have enough if not even more yuri-bait, they could have just adapted that if they wanted to play that card as they always have done with all their shows. But they wanted MORE, the MADLADS. (Actually a commercial move if you ask me, it's pretty goddamn profitable if your IP can get a lot of attention through fan-content)

I just love that scene, not gonna lie. Was way more impactful in all my experience watching anime that any of the actual yuri shows I watched at the moment. Having said that:

Kumiko Oumae has a bf and Reina is in an unrequited love with her teacher and nothing's gon' change that so there's nothing to prove there (Love the confession scene in the auditory in season 2 btw)

With the whole yuri-bait making it to doujinshis I just love Tsukumizu's take:
"Ok, I wasn't expecting you to ship this two underaged girls. But you know what, you have my permission... If you draw them older. Also, you gave me some motivation so let me make my own spin-off in the anthology book where I kind of make it canon... Or not. Anyway, here's my new series that doesn't totally come from a full on homoerotic doujinshi I made a few months ago, and totally isn't serialized in a magazine specialized in the genre. Cheers!"
FUCK HOW CAN THIS COMMENT BE EVEN LARGER THAN THE LAST ONE AND I HAVEN'T EVEN TALKED ABOUT AoT YET?

Yes, I do believe that a series like AoT having a proper adaptation of it's full run can be a BIG stepping stone for projects like Love Is War. Why? Because it means that a long-running show coming from a manga is profitable not only in the east, but also in the west by getting it's way into the CURRENT mainstream culture. Of course, Naruto, DBZ and Death Note are our childhood but they are not "modern classics" valued for both their writing and technical prowess and holding a direct comparison to something like GoT like AoT does.

AoT is a show that turned people into anime watchers. Kimetsu no Yaiba did the same.

Love is War it's a show that HAS THE POTENTIAL to be in mainstream culture, and has already turned people into anime watchers but if even the BIGGEST battle seinen at the moment can't get a full-on adaptation like it should that also demonstrates that it's financially feasible, what could be expected from a light-hearted romcom with heavy drama subplots? That's the reason the hidden message at then end of S2 reads:

Continue? Yes No

As to estate the probability it might actually not happen, even if it's popular.

@Raknasuu The whole problem is that Yamada loves to make homoerotic metaphors for platonic things and still pretend that she didn't even try to be ambiguous. I can still remember her colleagues by franchisees asking her why she used the red thread of fate in season one if she had no intention of doing ship bait and she was laughing lol. Homoerotic metaphors are nothing new and such depictions of friendship are fairly understandable to the Japanese, but for some reason, Yamada-sensei is still trying to pretend it had no fanservice purpose

.Tsukimizu? Are you saying he made GLT romantic? or just acknowledged the existence of shippers? Well, I won't say that Comic Cune "specializes in yuri", it's a regular seinen CGDCT magazine, but if the shippers' reaction motivated him to start a yuri bait series, why not? I can also think of the LWA writers who denied any yuri in the franchise, but initially allowed any yuri fan content. This is especially ironic against the backdrop of attempts by Western snowflakes to calling it LGTQ-focused franchise, lol.

So you're saying that the Easter egg at the end of season 2 was a reference to a possible industry situation?

@Oldpier

Ups, should I order something then? (Srry for ranting in a unrelated series cmmnt section)

*proceeds to rant again

@SuperOniichan

I didn't remember that Tutti! had the thread of fate methapor. Made me go back and watch/listen to it again. What a fucking banger of a song/ed. Thanks for that I guess.

Yamada-sensei being like that is part of the reason I haven't looked into anything related to Liz to Aoi Tori. We know it's platonic, but don't pretend like this isn't fanservice.

Tsukumizu did recognize the shippers, and encouraged them to keep on doing their doujinshi stuff. They didn't declare if it was officially just platonic or was actually romantic, but the last chapter of the anthology book revolves around a dream
Chito has in which she's dating Yuuri (That also talks about parallel universes, a foreshadowing to what Shimeji Simulation might be about as the two of them have various cameos in the new series)

I do have the perception that all the stuff that doesn't somehow fit in Yuri-Hime ends up being published in Cune. But it's not like Shimeji Simulation isn't a seinen CGDCT with some kind of yuri-baiting in the first chapter... At least it's not just that, because the existential dread is comparable to both their past work with GLT and Houseki no Kuni's and the subtext in all the chapters makes you feel like you are always missing something.

Having said that, the pre-serialization oneshot is quite... infamous. The comment section is filled with comments of people asking WTF they have just read, and somehow it seems like is not only canon but a major plot point for a certain important character in the series. Here's the link, definitely NSFW. Read at your own discretion:https://mangadex.org/chapter/685809/1

And yes, the easter egg can quite possibly be a reference to that. But the obvious lecture it's just that of asking the fans to support the series (Both manga and anime) so a third season might be possible in the future.

@Raknasuu As someone who has always liked GLT, I decided to check out everything I can find about it and yep, this is a very common nod to the ship. This is highly questionable as canon, but I can understand why people reacted this way. The ironic thing is that the context of this dream and the publication of the chapter in the anthology is clearly deliberately ambiguous and baitish, but that hasn't stopped some people from directly referring to it as proof that the girls are lesbians, lol. However, doujinshi and his new work make GLT look like a completely different person's work.

I can understand why Yamada was reluctant to admit that KyoAni overused the intended ambiguity to make the show easier to sell. But trying to justify such misleading by some "smart deep ideas" just makes it openly hypocritical. Especially when so many people sincerely believed them in some deep sense between Kumiko and Reina and then were disappointed to see the new film and learn the "truth" about the original.

Yuri Hime has nothing to do with this. CC, like the better-known Manga Time Kirara, are pretty stereotypical seinen yonkoma magazines, the only difference being that CC is much more sincere about yuri content, while MTK tends to appeal to a wider audience and is more ambiguous. Given that Comic Cune is a fairly young publication, I wouldn't be surprised if this magazine was originally created with the intention of reaching out to MTK fans who wanted more.

just asking. .isn't this series still being done by jaimini (which doesn't like to put things on mangadex) or they are not working in this anymore?

lmao. The "going all out" line is such a meme and cringe that I couldn't help myself from laughing.
