Is a kiss the price for her lux? If so, no wonder her partner is obsessed with her LMAO

two people with the most awkward prices to pay
Two chapters ago, we already saw Hina's price (umbra) was hunger, so I assume she wanted to eat him up...

The umbra is both related to their lux and abstract enough it can mean various things (in most cases). Kairi's umbra is contact, as we know, and as such any contact with others counts but it can be assumed the efficiency increases depending on the intimacy (as seen by him saying 'holding hands will take forever'). As such, we can deduce that Hina's umbra is also more efficient if she eats (Sates her 'hunger' with) the things she desires/wants, in this case Kairi/Ibuki.

I really enjoy how this series is subtly hinting at how their power system works. Directly telling us the basics and then allowing us to interpret the various ways the chosen language interacts with said power system.

Calling Hina's umbra 'gluttony' for example would heavily imply that it is both a prepaid type and exclusive to food (as that is the most common association) while 'hunger', as it is called in the story/TL, is often associated with both food and more carnal desires ('I'm gonna eat you up~' for example). Of course, the 'lips' she chose to 'eat' this chapter is most likely a result of Ibuki's absent minded teasing of Hina (the indirect kiss from the ice cream) causing her to be much more conscious of him than usual.

While I don't like the implementation of the prepaid abilities as it practically neutralizes the drawbacks of said abilities (I hope any future prepaid abilities have super niche conditions, not just 'smoking my pipe' or 'being vulnerable before the enemy', too easy to fulfill for the ability's apparent strength).

I also think it would be cool if the price increased in severity (while still being applicable to the verbiage/wording) I.E. Gouki 'making himself vulnerable' could also be seen as 'revealing one's insecurity', while being 'physically vulnerable' as it is currently being used is fine, I think scaling the abilities power off of the interpretation could be cool. If he only needs a weaker power, he could just air out his inferiority complex while risking his life for a much stronger power could be reserved for emergencies. For powers like Kairi/Ibuki's, the intimacy of the contact could be a condition of how much he used his ability and not just an efficiency thing (though I fear it would just end up as 'The Hidden Dungeon only I can Enter', so the current style is probably better).

oh cool, this scene makes more sense with this kind of context in mind, I wonder if we will ever get more world building as to the extremes of Lux going out of control leading to destruction similar to large-scale natural disasters

The pacing of this story is too fast for me. I would have preferred a much slower burn, where the heroine only comes to understand that the MC isn't entirely evil over the course of multiple encounters. Ideally, she would also slowly begin to link her hated nemesis with the civilian identity she is in love with.

If they were to team up against a bigger threat like Gouki, he should have found a way to preserve his villainous role, and the nature of their temporary alliance should have been more teeth-clenched teamwork rather than genuine cooperation.

As it stands, the appeal of the heroine x villain romance is simply lost.

I think the balance can be maintained by ensuring the charging duration doesn't overlap with usage. This preserves the recoil effect, which should hit harder than postpaid abilities. This creates a clear contrast, where prepaid users lean toward being strategic planners who fight in controlled environments, whereas postpaid users rely more on adaptation and instinct.

While sure Nega Messiah is made of different groups who hate how this world discriminates against those without Lux thus will have conflict with each other, I do question how the higher ups is going to deal with the fact Ibuki helped take down Gouki a fellow member who while an asshole to his fellow members is still useful. Gouki being taken out due to Nega Messiah changing their mission is one thing but they haven't. Their mission is very much fuck this society.
Its one thing Ibuki was given a mission to aid the Prima Libra to put Gouki down, but he just helps Hinata a PL member for his own reasons.

Gouki's attack on Prima Libra makes sense even his attack on Hinata. PL are the enemy as far as he is concerned thus thinning their numbers mean Nega Messiah is more free to act, Hinata is a rising star of basically the idol police, take her down hurt the image of PL. Also he is just a hater.

I do hope Ibuki and Kushina absolutely gets slammed by NM for this, you cannot fuck over your fellow members like this without consequences. The only time terrorist organizations are chill with this is because the person doing the fucking over is the boss, friends with the boss, or things have change and radical elements need to trimmed off. Nega Messiah is in control of jack and shit, so trimming Gouki and his faction off is dumb, particularly when men suffer under the Lux system since most men don't have one.
