"I hate how he's not even bothered. Pisses me off."
I don't know if there's some kind of galaxy brain plot to light a fire between these two, but whatever Marika's cooking, it's certainly getting Masaki to think more about Sawa and keep him thinking about her. If only he'd actually act on his thoughts though...
"We used to be the same height."
You think you're some nobody, but the princely school idol Sawa is keeping tabs on you. Please notice this.
Spring break date???
Gaaah why didn't I get to see that date? They're already the main couple in all but name, but something that sounds as fun as this was kept from me...
"This is recharging." "I'm just about running on empty myself."
Oh my god, why isn't this a thing in more romcoms? There's so much lovey-dovey power in something as simple as the warm gesture of an embrace between lovers. These are the little things that do a lot yet I don't see in many "rom"coms.
Oh right, most romcoms end when the main "couple" finally becomes official. I guess I have the fact that they're technically a side couple to thank that we even get to see and enjoy this, else the manga would've already ended long ago when they started dating.
New galaxy brain strat for romcom mangaka: in order to show a properly written romance with progress (illegal) between main characters that continues without ending at the start of the dating stage (also illegal), just turn the intended actual main couple into a "side couple" and put in a decoy main couple who will then take up the status quo duty (required by law) in romcoms these days.
