Because yaoi is leagues wayy more popular than Yuri in Japan, like way more, make sense that the mangaka is writing yaoi. Why not a Yuri mangaka? Probably because Yuri audience is not that big and thus it's 'less likely' that both of them are into it or that it wouldn't resonate as much with the readers or something. Of course, the author could just write it anyways but they didn't.
revelent ?
we talking about character who is in Yuri work already, who suppose will fall in love in a girl. what is the percent of that happen to begin with ? small, probably, doesn't matter. But the percent of them into girl is 100%, because this is not the percent of "all girl" to begin with.
In fact, it would help make Sensei so work up over what people think meeting student after school more natural. if she herself already aware and actively in Yuri fanbase

"Why does the settings needs to be a tinge bit realistic, they're going to fall for eachother anyways so what's the point"

Also, if she's in the Yuri fanbase, wouldn't it just makes it more problematic as meeting up after school could be interpreted as romantic behaviour instead of normal interaction.

And in this, when another teacher and student get caught, she quickly aware of how dangerous their relationship are, instead of being obivous, since they are just 2 girl hang out, nothing sus can happen. Make her into yuri shipping, and anime like Magical girl, CGDCT would be fine.
Not fully sure if I get your point, but if you made the teacher aware from the start about "yuri" it would feel sus.
Like, the teacher sharing yaoi doujins with a student already could be seen as very sus. But if those were yuri doujins, for example, it would outright feel as if the teacher were purposefuly grooming this female student of hers (a minor? not sure) into getting interested about the concept of women dating each other.
And considering this is a yuri manga, you can see how a complicated situation could get very worse that way.

Please feel free to ignore this rant.

I cannot help but be pissed at the fact that the sensei starts moping or self-pitying thinking that Kohaku likes Sachi more.
Of course she does! She's supposed to be her inspiration.
You made Sachi. You literally were asked if you were the artist and sensei decided to not be associated with the art that her student liked.

She literally keeps on finding moments to twist into the "she wants Sachi more and I am not needed" scenarios in her head.
Even when her student is trying to get some support from her sensei and not from sachi, to pursue her newfound hobby, she kinda goes out of her way to sabotage everything and for the lack of better term -start acting like a victim.

And this not even the love angle yet, god that would be insufferable and frustrating AF.
