He's been used to get close to his brother in the past (including one memory where he tried to give flowers) and two girls were talking about using him to get close to his brother in the present (at the bottom left of the page). It's not just about being ignored.

Now OBVIOUSLY he doesn't have the legitimately deep/traumatic reasons to distrust girls as THIS GUY does in Ore ni Trauma wo Ataeta Joshi-tachi ga Chirachira Mitekuru kedo, Zannen desu ga Teokure desu. I mean, his own sister told him to die and almost killed him (and then there's more...).
