Maybe the usage has shifted (which is kinda why I asked) but stanning comes from the Eminem song Stan. The song is about a fan so crazy obsessive that he ends up killing himself and his girlfriend. So it is, at least originally, not a good thing.

Huh. I definitely don't have my finger on the pulse these days, but I've only ever seen it used as someone who is a fan of / supports their oshi. I've never seen it used in a derogatory way like that.

I haven't seen stan used much since 2023 so I could be completely off the mark but last I saw it used, it was mostly for fans who really support and like someone. Sometimes obsessively but not necessarily.

You're definitely right about its origins, but last I saw it was starting to be used to describe more and more take groups of fans.

Again I haven't really seen anyone using it lately though so I could be completely wrong about common usage of "stan."

Or actually, wait. Did you mean 18 or 19? Because 18 was straight up missing TS for an SFX I'd cleaned, but 19 just has a giant "KA" which I intentionally left, the same as I left something on 15 and 17 because they don't really do anything.
