That’s what I mean, this is a VERY good example of getting the audience to want the harem ending (unless they add a third girl or something which would torch it). Recently another manga I’m reading is starting to lean towards harem/poly and it’s just aggravating and I hate it.

There are lots of series out there that start with an obvious winning candidate then keep stuffing new heroines into the story before ending on a harem end or no-choice-made ending even though there's been one girl that was clearly positioned to be the victor right up until the point that she isn't anymore and it feels like a let down or a cheat.

Edit: Because someone reacted with a dumb, I feel they may be confused. A polycule requires mutual romantic feelings across all parties, otherwise, it's just a harem. Me saying that I want them to understand their own romance is not me wanting our boy to be excluded, but for the two of them to love each other just as they both love him. That will make a true polycule and not just a harem.
