@CoolOtamegane If her status has changed her family registry, then she is physically female in all appearances as well as being female in mind. The legalities of the physical sex change experience in Japan is explained nicely in the autobiographical manga "Hanayome wa Motodanshi," or "The Bride Was a Boy," in its English printing.

Just like @ejala said, if you are interested in learn about this issues in Japan you can do so by reading The Bride Was a Boy, which you can buy in English directly from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1626928886/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2Hp3BbTJCM5W0

Or you could buy it and support Chii, the author. As I did:

It is worth supporting authors whose work you enjoy by purchasing their physical volumes when available in your language with real life dollarydoos and participating in this fun economy, and the bride was a boy us a good one of those to do so for

@kurisu, @Chrona, @Captaininvictus There is a third option in the buy vs scan debate: persuade your local library to carry more manga. Here in Ohio, libraries will take purchasing suggestions from their users, and often they even buy the items. Or if they can't/won't, they might have a trading partnership with another library that does own the item-I've gotten inter-library loans from as far away as Missouri before. This way, a copy(or more) is bought, benefiting the author, but you don't shoulder the cost, save whatever taxes you pay that might be earmarked for the local library system. Even better, many people can read the book, including those that find it randomly on the shelf that would have never bought it for themselves, or wouldn't have the ability or inclination to find internet sources. I didn't even discover scanslation sites until I had read almost every series of which my library had all current volumes.
If enough people keep asking for different manga, the library might even start buying them before you ask. That's actually what happened in my library with The Bride Was a Boy. It was already there waiting for me when I went looking.

@Chrona
There are people in this comment section right now getting assblasted about being called an NPC. All because of some 4channers pseudo-philosophical post in a sea of garbage over 5 years ago becoming a mainstream term. What a world we live in.
It goes further back.

Using NPC in the context it is currently being used in is in reference to that initial post. While the general idea existed before it hasn't been quantified into a generic insult so potently until now. And done so so sufficiently it triggers people this much.
@Captaininvictus
It's not that good a manga, anything of worth in it was probably encapsulated in her original blogposts it was based on. Had I actually bought it I would have returned it due to lackluster art in general and the information it conveying being pretty generic and easy to find. In addition, if I were to ever actually support the original artist, I would purchase the original Japanese releases as 1. They're usually cheaper 2. The paper quality is almost always superior and the print size larger and 3. more of the money goes towards the original artist by cutting out multiple middle men doing only tolerable jobs (and sometimes worse jobs) than fan scanlations.

@chrona you seem pretty awful. That you can freely use terms like "trigger" so flippantly shows you're quite a sheltered, privileged person.

and you not understanding why the whole NPC thing is a really bad thing is really telling on the latter in particular. It's textbook dehumanization on a large scale, perpetuated on places like 4chan in an absurd manner but in a way that "reaches" the right people. And the more unhinged of those types will actually take it to heart, and consider other people not "real", and thus find an easier justification to kill them, like the incel murderer a bit ago. Stoking the fires of mass killers by giving them excuses leads to that and others like Dylan Roof et al, and the stupid NPC thing is just one example of many forms of dehumanization, as well as allows one to subconsciously disregard actual arguments someone may make. Dehumanization is never a good thing, just look at how people fleeing horrific violence in south america are being portrayed by the likes of fox news or the white house(or were, before the election was over). NPC is another form of that, one of many different types.

@ejala that's real cool. I know my local library carries a fair number of manga series too.

came in for cool drama and got stale npc crap and buy vs pirate shit. It is a bit amusing that I'm only 20 days in the future from that yet the npc meme already seems from a whole other era lmao.

Love isn't that complicated at the end

No really when you look at it, the hard parts are always because of the pointless labels...

"Its not complicated, I love her and she loves me, thats all"

Yeah, that's also why I'm wondering what's the problem for others is.

I love this manga mostly because it shows how love can be as simple as that. Rather than worrying about what’s down there, just love who’s in there. That’s all it needs to be, right?
