@Ceiye Well, for the most part all the women Gerald ends up in contact with just want to marry him(for one reason or another), and everyone else is just playing the same game of who has the most elegance and backstabby virtue. In the original game the only one that caught his interest was Campbell, mostly due to how different she was from everyone else but also because of her genuine, kind-hearted nature. Now that Bakarina is being Bakarina she has become another person that "seems interesting," only he's already engaged to her so he has more excuses to observe her and directly associate with her compared to a new transfer student he knows little about.
Simply put, his standards for "interesting people" are low because he only associates with the aristocracy who are all dancing to the same power hungry, brown-nosing tune. Now, however, he has not one, but two dancers stepping to their own beats that are distinct from everyone else's, both of said dancers being far more kind and/or sincere people than everyone else Gerald associates with. Also, one of them suddenly changed into a seemingly complete different person after hitting their head so of course he's interested to see what happens next.
