You know, if there was so much content to pull out of, why in the hell did the anime got so damn rushed? I would have loved to have a couple seasons at a nice pace... really enjoyed this A-hole of a protagonist
Because the problem they had with the anime was budget (as they were clearly on a tight one), not material to cover.

No. Romance in this story is the worse i've seen handled among hundreds of isekai / trash harems i've read. It's practicely non-existant. It is so terrible that these two (livia and ange) kiss and sleep with eachother way before they even hold hands with the coward that is Leon. He is so against the idea of reciprocating their advances that you would think he is %100 gay (for the majority of the story) and is just forced to go along with the girls. Well, he is always forced to do everything anyway (including engagements with all the girls. He never initiates. All of them tricked him to compliance one way or another).

It is pretty bad to the point that Leon is probably the worst part of the story overall since he doesn't have any character development. What you see right now is what he is in the end as well.
As I said in a previous reply I didn't really read that far ahead, but... One thing that started immediately annoying me at the start of the next arc is how....

...are immediately boxed and shelves and declassed to irrelevant characters, with this guy basically stopping any interaction with them while hunting for the next trophy waifu he will not put a single hand on.

The series becomes basically a worst version of what it was supposed to mock.

Thanks for the new chapter!

Leon got some bitch-slapping because he responded to their confessions out of his ass (i.e. they know from his tone and gesture that he hasn't even thought about how to respond to even Livia's initial confession).

Anyway looking forward to how Leon will get back back on the king (i.e. NTRing the queen)

I still can't understand why can't he just say fuck'all you'all to everyone and tell them to leave him alone.
Japanese work culture is partly to blame, where its considered bad to go against your superiors.
In Leon's case, now he can can pretty much boss everyone but the royal family and ducal houses.

I think it's time to shit can this while we're on a relatively... well, not high but semi-acceptable note. I'm not a fan of what this relationship between Leon, Angie, and Livia is turning into. And given the spoiler tagged posts, it only gets worse from here, not just with those two but everyone.

true
and I try to suspend that disbelief by thinking that because he's been living 15-16 years here with the "women are scary" environment that he is still in denial because that mindset,
though I do agree that his pussy behavior became kind of annoying down the line on the 3rd heroine,
but I forgive him a bit in the 2nd Angie arc (Angie's family)

I just started the 13th volume last week

What happens to Marie in the light novel? Does she ever get her karma for her shitty behavior towards pretty much everyone?

well that certainly tanked my expectations by a massive amount

It's probably foolish to take this story too seriously, but the story so far has actually shown everyone that Leon is the kind of man who doesn't want titles/power, but when he's pushed into such a position out of necessity, he will get things done better than others. Afterwards he will perfectly willingly want to let go of the power and return to a simple life. Such a person is the dream of governments.

Leon is no threat to the king, or the dukes, as he has got no ambition to keep rising in power and possibly replace those above him. However, he still will solve the crises like nobody else could. He has also always shown proper respect for those above him in hierarchy and doesn't seem to harbour any thoughts of crushing the monarchy and replacing it with communism or something. The king definitely would not want such a person to simply disappear. Give him a title and responsibilities, to keep him close at hand for any future difficult tasks.

So he's a crude version of George Washington with a slowly growing harem and space ships.
