Another possibilities other than them drifting apart is that she escaped the loop before him. She was in the loop before him to the point she went insane while he just start looping for only a while. So, it could be theorized that they will loop for a certain amount of loop (say, 1,000 loops) and she started first and then ended first; so he spend the rest of his loop after she leaves being insane, too. (But... she'll be just an NPC in that case? That'd hurt for him for quite a while after it happens )
