It's always odd to me how many mangaka pretend cooking is rocket science and that you'll mutilate yourself or produce some abomination from hell unless you really know what you're doing. Yeah I get it, it's a tool to have both of them mingle and get closer over cooking, but you can totally do that when both know what they're doing and just work together.

Makes me think about how I’d cook meals with my ex back when we lived together while dating. She helped me get used to meal prep, and I was usually in charge of the actual cooking, especially if meat was involved, with supervision from her at first, but eventually we got to the point we could each take care of any of the cooking tasks individually, and cooking together was a very sweet experience. It’s just once we could both do it, if one of us was busy, the other could make the food.

Also wild to think the first place we lived together in had a gas stove, so there was always at least a tiny bit of uneasiness when first igniting the burner(s). Though also got used to cleaning up under the burners, too, especially since we lived with our landlady in that first place, and didn’t want to leave a mess for her.
