Getting to hear thíngs from Mahiru's perspective is what I love about After the rain. In the anime Mahiru never had any inner monologue so we were only able to hear Amane's thoughts. I love how she says "the man I love", powerful words. Anyone who knows when these chapters take place inbetween the anime/manga?

This chapter takes place sometime during Light Novel Vol. 3 or Vol. 4, and it likely occurs later than what the main manga is currently adapting, though we don't know for sure!

Good example here of how much Amane truly has done for Mahiru. While it isn't tangible, what he's done for her has provided her a lifeline to escape her predetermined fate. She probably feels she's monopolizing Amane's life and not allowing him to have his time for himself, which we know that's not how he thinks of their relationship.

I had to reread this section in V5.5 to refresh myself on how bad Mahiru's backstory was. If the next chapters cover enough of the LN, it's gonna be more gut punches in the feels with how bad Mahiru had things. Respect to her for holding out long enough to get to a lifeline.

And Amane, gotta give her a big hug and reassure her he will stay by her side.

With where this is in the LN main story, definitely after V2, but probably before confession. Gonna guess this is sometime early V3, but if Mahiru knows about Amane's backstory, then it's more in V4 territory.

I mean, I've given my key to a trusted friend, to use incase I lose mine, lock myself out, or there's a special circumstance and I'm away.

I still wouldn't necessarily want them just coming in as they please.
