Unfortunately, we aren't actually that close to the end of season 1 xD It just seems closer than it is because the second half of the anime skipped/rushed through quite a lot of content. So far with 26 chapters, the manga has covered 2 1/2 out of the 4 light novel volumes the anime adapted. So we're looking at about another 18 chapters before we reach the end of season 1

He'll be even more cornered in volume 92, when Demon Mahiru ½ traps him in the pocket dimension Angulus, extended from the corner of the classroom in the mini-arc Hexagonal Dreaming. Though I guess that arc's probably not going to be adapted considering the fact that they've already skipped over the first Dream World arc, (which should have come after chapter 24 here) which HexDre relies on...

That's fine the manga can't be slower than me reading the light novel (still in the middle of vol 1)
