Hmm... I would have though that a lot of the time the thing stopping people from self-publishing isn't the issue of profit, but rather of who holds the publishing rights (annoyingly, axing and stopping production and sales of something does not require relinquishing publishing rights to the bits already published).

I'm not sure, though.

AXED - manga updates says "discontinued", which they don't normally say on ended manga axed or otherwise so maybe the series wasn't axed so much as the magazine decided to stop publishing it or the magazine died or something.

I know this author has some problems moving things forward (Sensei Lock-On!, I'm looking at you) but holy shit, make SOMETHING happen especially if you're continuing after an axe.
