In the context of ramen, it seems the most common meaning of 即席 is "Instant", as in "Instant Ramen", rather than improvise/impromptu.

即席ラーメン is instant ramen. But when they write らーめん即席 how in the hell can't I catch that. (*´＿＿｀*)
