Fucking finally!
I was so pissed with how that situation had been settled. Started to think the author was just going to pull a “This is how it was back then” kind of thing.

@Zygotes "Husband is an actual chad gentleman" can't agree more. Yes, he totally is. He knows the cost of lost happiness, and wouldn't allow Talas to experience the same.

I almost cried. She's such a fucking boss, and her husband for that short while is an absolute champ. I'm so happy that this got resolved. I've been complaining about this and even put the manga off for months due to their split in the earlier chapters.

Dude in the comments: constantly and obnoxiously complains about the dehumanizing Muslim and Central-Asian customs of yore.

Same dude: complains that the husband who let the wife go also was a gentleman enough to ensure her safety (while reserving an opportunity for an "insurance" payout), knowing full well she wouldn't be able to make the entire trip on her own.

What a honorable stance. Beautiful.

Still hits really well on re-reads, I must say. Also this go-around I really enjoy Mr. Smiths words about trying to preserve and record things before they're gone. He's right. If a war is coming, then there may be no second chances.

We, here in the future, know already he's seen things that literally don't exist anymore. How many patterns and textiles and art and families and methods and day to day lives can be preserved? Too few. Every single image would be worth so much more then its weight in gold.

I think, too, you can feel the authors respect for the people who compiled the information she's working from for this series. Don't you think?

Extremely forced considering the culture for him to say all that drivel about womans happyness. Especially seeing the new fathers personality i just cant imagine him finding her such a rich and well-intentioned guy.

Like how much money and time did he spend to travel to find some random dude he doesnt know and his wife knew a total of 3 days. Not to mention he knew his wife for a total of probably like a week at that point.

Seeing the speed they reached Mr smith it must have happened on the day after they got married and they must have been married within a few days of mr smith leaving. Any normal person would have called off the wedding then and there and left, instead of going on a months long journey without a real location.

The cynic in me says that he got scammed and only found out she was in love after they wed and he sure as hell didn't want a wife that longed for another man. He spent time and money to get rid of her pretty much and everything else was lip service.
