This is actually pretty heartbreaking to read. The Aral Sea was destroyed by the Soviets in the 1960’s when they diverted the rivers that flowed into the inland sea. The Aral Sea is an inland body of water that doesn’t have any outflow, but after decades of pollution and a lack of water flowing into it, the current remnant is about 10% of how large it used to be.

The Aral Sea was polluted by factory runoff, which mixed with the lakebed . Now that 90% of the Aral Sea has dried up, it’s created a huge contaminated desert that is literally slowly killing the few remaining people who remained. The majority of people had to leave after the fish died, and those who are left live in deep poverty.

It’s just crushing to see the people represented here in this manga, and to know that it ends horribly for them.

I have visions of Laya and Leyli as a funky hiphop duo.
That's not marriage. That's a double literal reverse harem! I love these two :D
"Don't tell em that part." :D Looks like a scene from Love Lab. Hilarious. :D
Yes sir. Great chapter.

If they will fight about dowry, why not give anything to begin with?!

To twist the knife follow up after @roetheboat :
"Manak" is a real place - Muynak, Uzbekistan. If you look at the terrain view on Google Maps, you'll see how much the Aral Sea has dried up.
Do you hear the ghosts of families like these, the echoes of their bustling markets, and their voices in the wind?

Poor Smith, I loved how though he found himself in an awkward situation he was able to calmly sort it out, but now Ali has driven him so deep I can't say how he'll get out of it unscathed, especially with these two mischief-makers, writin' of... Laila and Laili are fun, It's not often in Anime/Manga I see gals with a plan of how they're going to nab their Man or Men, don't listen to Mom and Grandma, some boys are even more afraid to make the first move than the girls, don't waste your time or plan deceit, go up and ASK!

This and the chapter about embroidery are my favorites. I just had a swell time reading them.
