This is interesting...

Lissita was an annoying character because she's been talking shit.

Lulu wass potentially an annoying character because she wanted to break up Arcad and Denev and interpreted everything Denev does badly.

But because Lissita was the one who handled Lulu:
  • Lissita seems a lot less annoying because she took it upon herself to defend Arcad and Denev's relationship and was relatively nice to Lulu.
  • Lulu doesn't come off as annoying because she's bothering Lissita (who was a jerk before) rather than Denev (who's done nothing wrong.)
  • Arcad and Lulu both look better because Arcad had a heart to heart with Lulu as soon as he realized there was a problem and Lulu only needed that one conversation to belief him.
This was a good idea, more authors should use one character who interfere with the main characters' relationship to balance another.

Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts! <3

I also liked how Lissita and Lulu's characters were handled! One big conflict in this story is the animosity and prejudice Arcad and Denev's people have for each other, but since the two main characters don't feel any such thing, we actually don't get to see much of it. So it was really good to see Lissita and Lulu represent how prejudice/bigotry can blind and hurt people who are otherwise loving, capable, well-meaning and deeply caring about the main characters - and it was especially good to see the story send the message that their prejudices are their own to unpack and deal with, with minimum help from Arcad and Denev.

Another great thing to see was how both Lissita and Lulu found something in the other that was personally important to them, despite their differences - Lissita who came to respect Lulu as a future ruler because of the way she handled those gossiping aristocrats, and Lulu who found an older woman who took her concerns and her distress seriously and helped her connect with Arcad. And it was all done with very limited screen time for the two ladies! The author really delivered great supporting characters with very solid arcs! <3
