Ranking man's angle has been obscure from the beginning, he did try to trick Desha into using cursed swords. Never know what he's planning.

Another interesting twist! Still don't know what to think of the rankings guy. At first he was seeming awfully sus, but then whatever the shadowy figures he represents said to Ouken convinced him that they were OK? So the whole rankings system is OK too? Is he just a neutral party seeking the people most suited to be kings? Does he have any other morality or values? I'm so curious~!

You know, one of the reasons this manga sucked me in from the beginning was its way of throwing curveballs to the reader non-stop, but in Oyabu's case I wish he would just get his just dessert and have his ass kicked.
I'm not sure any amount of sad backstory could redeem him at this point to be honest.

I think it might almost be like, an order from whatever god-like being controls this system. As if to purposefully promote the worst - though again to what end?

I don't like this character but I have to admit its pretty damn funny that his method of murder is a Looney Tunes-ass rock placed upon a cliff.
