Isn't 7-8th grade still middle school? Or in Japan is different? Cuz middle school in here is from 1 to 8th grade and highschool from 9 to 12
If he's still in middle school that means it hasn't happened yet unless Japan school works differently

I don't know, but they always talk about grade in school while just saying frehsmen, sophomore and senior for Middle school and and Highscool, also If I remember well, Tanzawa said that they were separated when they were still in school when Jousuke stabbed middleschoolers, and that he reconnected with him only when Jousuke was in middle school
