Outen no Mon - Vol. 2 Ch. 7 - A mysterious apparition at Fujiwara no Takako's mansion 1

Musings of the day: Fujiwara no Takako should really be allowed to kill a horrible male relative a day. I don't think I'm asking too much.
I love how much of a bisexual Hakubai is. Beautiful women, handsome men... She loves both so much!
Anyway, if you want to know a little more about the translation notes... Also, because I didn't want to write a second page just because of my stupidity, so I'll use this space (and you should be used to my yapping by now).
So in page 43 Takako says that it's a vase from the 高麗 and if you search that word anywhere the first thing that will come up is the Goryeo dynasty. There's only just one little, tiny, minuscule issue here. This dynasty was founded in 918. Outen no Mon takes place in the year 863. So when I did the first draft of the translation I was so confused because either Haibara-sensei made a mistake or Yoshifusa was a fricking time traveler.
What I didn't know was that Goryeo is also another name for the Goguryeo Kingdom. When the story takes place the dynasty didn't exist yet, so that's why Takako doesn't make a distinction. Anyway, I hope you can excuse my absolute ignorance about Korean history. I'm so sorry.

Fantastic chapter. Thank you so much for your quality work on this manga. I'm glad we're getting to know more about Fujiwara no Takako and her situation. Also, I can't blame Hakubai for just falling apart over Takako and Narihira. Can't wait to see where Takako's 'little bit of trouble' leads in the next chapter!

He could be trying to save her from something back then, and seeing how the "brothers" treated her, I can imagine plenty of possibilities. As I understand, Takako said in this chapter that it wasn't a romantic affair.
Ok, so I had the same question when I was translating it, but in page 35 when Takako is talking about things she got out of her relationship with Narihira she says that "she got to hear about Michizane" and "she could see the cherry blossoms".
It struck me as odd that she would mention the latter without prior reference to it. Afterall, before saying that she got to learn about Michizane from Narihira she was already refering to Hakubai as Tamamushihime.
I must confess that in the Japanese text she says 山桜 (yamasakura), which is the wild variant of the tree, but I didn't have space to make that distinction.
So my theory is that she wanted to see the cherry blossoms, but they wouldn't let her out of the house, so Narihira decided to take her to see them in the middle of the night, without anyone finding out. Unfortunately, they were discovered and they had to escape from their pursuers. And the rest... happened as shown.
But this is just what I think. I could be 100% be wrong. Also, because it's very difficult to see anything during the night. It's pretty dark out there.
