Musings of the day: "If he cheats on you"?! Girl, who's he gonna on you with? With a book? (Before anyone says anything, I know real life's Michizane was also a bit of a player, but I just can't see this Michizane ever turning out like that).

Funnily enough, Tadaomi is his teacher and future father-in-law, but Michizane doesn't call him Tadaomi-sensei or even Tadaomi-dono. He's just "Tadaomi". What a brazen son-in-law...

Also, yeah, Hakubai is really horny (good for her!), which is fair, because Narihira and Haseo are too, so this is true gender equality/j

We love to see women in male-dominated fields.

This manga is actually very good at conveying the level of sexual liberty noblewomen had in the Heian era. Japanese people of today have a mistaken view of ancient chastity because they came out of later samurai culture that was obsessed with family honor and put a lot more restrictions on women, but Heian-kyo was a capital of promiscuity.

At this point I don't even care about the Fujiwaras and all their awful plots, this two-parter was just so much fun and gave us a great look at the equal-opportunity fun times noblemen and women were having in the Heian period.
