Thanks for filling the gap! I feel like I may have already read this before, but the translation here is really good and I think it made a lot more sense to me after reading it.

that last 5% of translation quality makes all the difference. thanks.

this chapter shows what's uniquely good about overlord among isekai. way more thought is put into characters' motives and thoughts, and out of that complexity that would have a lesser author writing himself into a corner, not only is there a coherent story, but one where the main driver of events is just making it up as he goes along, suspected by nobody. makes it looks easy but it must be quite hard.

makes you think of stuff i think rene girard wrote about, or maybe eric gans, where the role of "monarch" is more about a way for the community to observe itself observing and thereby defer violence than about being a supreme authority.
