I'm going to cry!!! I'll miss this series 😢 Contrary to everyone saying this ending seemed rushed or vague, I think it was perfectly paced and everything wrapped up satisfactorily. Not everyone's happy ending is marriage and children. Not making their relationship public and 'official' is very in character with the Lady Emperor, who has almost always put the country above all, and Misono, who wants nothing but to serve her and doesn't need to stand on equal ground as her. All that matters is that they are together, they will travel the world for the rest of their days (the hiyoku-no-tori with the globe as their cage), they are happy. That's a perfect ending.

Exactly the ending I expected. Because I hate to be the bearer of Bad News, but to everyone who was hoping for a more Substantive Epilogue or to see them later in their life, there is actually an extremely good, Very Large Reason to end it right here and just leave their future to our Imaginations.

In fact there's 2 Very Large Reasons. Because Gosh Darn It, They said they only needed the one, that it would be the last, they promised. But Damn if it just didn't need a Big Budget Sequel.

Guys this Manga saw the Ōtsu Incident (1891) and the Tokyo Earthquake (1894).

This last chapter was 11 years after that.

It's 1905 Baby.

Just 9 years left till The Great War.

Read this all in one go after seeing that it ended. It was a nice series but there was a very serious decline in quality as the story progressed. The last couple of chapters were also filled with tropes and felt very rushed. But overall it was a nice read.

I was afraid to see the ending.... But I am not disapointed at all.

The feeling is so between... I hope there would be no sequel but turned to be a live action series instead.

Judging by the way they talk about it, I don't know if she can ever officially "get married." Succession problems with children of former emperors and all that. But she and Misono are gonna be together and they're gonna be happy and that's just how it is.

I just hope they won't be traveling around Europe in 1914. Or have anything to do with the Japanese government after 1934.

I just binge read the whole manga, man what a ride!
I loved it, super sweet. the ending is nice too, i really wanted to see them married or at least them being together after she resigns but I do get that it's a little bit asking too much from the author. Nonetheless, it was amazing.

now I'm off on my quest to find something to fill the void this manga has left in my heart
