The demon lord is one of the most ambiguously gendered looking characters I've seen lately. Probably because the art is relatively simple.

A lot of context is missing here, which will slowly be revealed to the reader throughout this arc. If you paid very close attention in all the previous chapters (which even I didn't back then), then it would've already struck you as weird that someone this young could be the Demon Lord a.k.a the one who killed Hijiri's father ~10 years ago.
