Most... no, all of them (especially the mainstream ones) really have no plot beyond "I'm effortlessly powerful!". None of them have consequences for their powers, none of them have their close friends/family are really threatened or die permanently (or worse, they revive cough Slime Isekai) after they become OP.

I'm grateful that Konosuba and No Longer Allowed in Another World exists... heck, I'm glad Parallel Paradise exists too.
I mean I am effortlessly overpowered is still fine, One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 are that and they're 2 of the most popular anime out there (also by the same author, probably not a coincidence). They however focus on how being overpowered affects the person who is overpowered and also has the drama of the story focused around other people.

Mushoku Tensei is another example of "I am effortlessly overpowered and get all the bitches" and is insanely because even though he is effortlessly overpowered the author does put in good stakes and show consequences for his mistakes

The eminence in shadow does it by having good comedy

The generic series never do anything new it's always the same cookie cutter story which is why they're so forgettable, the problem isn't with them being overpowered it's with the lack of plot and each story being the same. They're either a shitty Mushoku Tensei, a shitty Konosuba, or a shitty Solo Levelling.

OPM and Mob Psycho are of course, based. And the protagonists, as physically or psychically powerful as they are, have personal weaknesses of their own, or people they care about that can get hurt. The comedy also helps.

Mushoku Tensei I give a pass since it's the grandaddy of isekai, and it was an actually good read. Rudy was also not that OP compared to isekai protagonists of today.

Eminence is just pure silliness. 0% serious, and that's great. The problem with OP isekai protagonists stories is that ironically, all of them take the story seriously, because it's hard to take the story seriously since they're too powerful.

And ehem, I consider Solo Levelling trash too (and Overlord, and Slime Isekai), and that's after reading all of it. He just became another boring OP protagonist.
