I thought they have a sword that can kill the main antagonist, according to MCs childhood friend. Didn't she tell him to stab the guy while he was in his sleeping pod but he chickened out? What's stoppingthem from doing it now? Or maybe author just wanted to show mc is bawk bawk and they can't actually kill the bad guy so simply? Or was there a force field around the bad guy, the "seal" that goes away when empress dies? I forgot.

Yeah, when the empress dies, the seal will break. Then the jealous God, Kanjeo, will wake up and start pulling out the godslaying sword that impaled him. MC needs to wrestle control of it off from Kanjeo and use that sword to kill him.

By MC's own admission, he's not ready to fight someone who caused him so much trauma in past. Since he's on his last life and he only got one shot at the fight, MC is being careful not rushing the fight and getting himself killed.
