Can somebody explain the difference betweet battle spirit and body tempering?

Like mc on the test get huang lvl 1, but the so called genius got huang lvl 5. But mc battle spirit actually lvl 6(or 7 i forgot) and if given pills can advance, and from the story, that advancement is a rare thing on a spirit battle. So, is that mean, that so called genius who got huang lvl 5 is trash if compared to cultivation in general? Because there is no information other's battle spirit can advance or lvl up?

Or maybe i am still early in the story and it will be explained later?
