That’s fair, I just was wondering why the artist put so much emphasis on the disposal of the cricket which led me to that tangent.

No you’re absolutely right I’m certain the author intended to draw the parallel, I just always find it weird in stories like this where a long loved species compares a human to some short lived species, ignoring that humans are in many, very important, ways fundamentally different from animals.
